
NEW DELHI, July 24: A youth, Surinder Kumar, was shot dead by three unidentified assailants outside the New Colony Gurgaon branch of the State Bank of India on Thursday. The police said that the assailants decamped with a bag containing cash after killing Surinder, a resident of Saharanpur employed with a local company. The three robbers followed Surinder on a scooter from the moment he left the bank and stopped him soon thereafter. One of them asked Surinder to hand over the bag containing money. But when he refused, one of the assailants fired at him. Surinder died on the spot. The assailants are still absconding.
An electronic goods dealer of cash was robbed of cash amounting to Rs 1.2 lakh in Daryaganj early this morning. Dhirender Kumar Gupta had come from Kanpur to make purchases at the Lajpat Rai market. He took a TSR from the railway station at around 7 a.m. today. There were three men already inside the vehicle besides the driver. One of them sat with the driver while two others sat on the back-seat. Gupta placed his briefcase near the driver as there was no space for it on the back-seat. He got off at the Delite Cinema on Asaf Ali Road when he discovered that his briefcase had been cut from both sides and the money missing. A case of theft has been registered at the Daryaganj police station.
Three youths robbed a Narela petrol pump assistant of the day8217;s earnings at Narela at around 1.30 p.m. today. According to the police, the amount is between Rs 10,000 to 12,000. The assailants riding a Black Yamaha asked the man at the petrol pump located near Shiv automobiles to fill petrol worth Rs 50. When he complied, they complained that the meter reading was wrong and refused to pay the amount. An argument ensued following which the youths agreed to pay the amount and handed over a Rs 50 note to him. It was when the latter was keeping the money in the bag that the three snatched the bag and fled the spot.
A company secretary was robbed of her briefcase containing Rs 5,000 in cash, a cellphone, and some documents at gun-point last night near Govindpuri in South Delhi by three unidentified assailants on a motorcycle. Sonia was returning home on a TSR when the incident happened. The three had reportedly been following her. The robbers then told the driver that his rear wheel was punctured. Sonia, who had apparently noticed them following her advised the driver, not to stop. The driver reportedly did not heed her advice and stopped. Once the driver got off, one of the assailants attempted snatching her briefcase. When she resisted, he pulled out a pistol. They three fled on their Yamaha motorcycle.
Two unidentified persons stole Rs 50,000 from a scooter this morning in front of the UCO Bank office in Krishan Nagar. The police say that the owner of the scooter, Virender Singh, had gone to the Oriental Bank of Commerce to withdraw the money. He kept the cash in his scooter and drove to the UCO Bank office in the same area at 11.30 a.m.. As Singh came out of the office, he saw a man take the bag containing the money and escape on a motorcycle. A case of theft has been registered.
A lawyer practising at the Tis Hazari courts was robbed of Rs 3,000 and his watch this evening while travelling in a TSR. Mohammad Shoaib Saifullah, a resident of Vikaspuri, wanted to go to Lalita Park and hired a TSR near the ISBT flyover. The vehicle was already occupied by two youths, whom Saifullah did not know. As the TSR neared Geeta Colony, the two youths forced the lawyer to part with the money and watch and escaped.A case has been registered at the Geeta Colony police station.
