Do you always hesitate before ordering wine, as you’re confused about what to opt for and what food would go with it? Well, your long wait for knowledge is over and Rotisserie and Sea Grill, at The Oberoi is now the right place to get it. For the next few weeks, the fine dining restaurant will see French wine sommelier Gerard Tournier interacting with the guests and educating them on wine. While Tournier visited the Indian restaurant, Kandahar, on his first day here, he will be spending most of his time at Rotisserie and Sea Grill, as it houses the largest selection of New World wines in the city.

Winner of Sommelier Trophy for the year, Tournier has been rated the topmost sommelier in his class at the renowned Tain L’Hermitage sommelier school in the Rhone Valley. “Just as the wine should match the perfect meal, a sommelier should get along with the perfect Chef,†he smiles. He lays great emphasis on details, like the need to begin a meal with a light wine; and the correct way to serve/taste wine pour, swirl, sniff, sip. And as a true Frenchman, he insists that two glasses of wine a day, are sure to keep the doctor away!

“I am not too aware of the Indian taste,†he admits, adding that he loves the Goan port wines, “All I know is that Indian food has a lot of spices. But that’s the reason why I’m here. After all, satisfaction comes when guests personally feel that they ordered the perfect wine.â€
