When we talk of fashion, we normally mean women’s clothes. There are very few stores and designers who specialise in men’s wear. And that’s where Haresh Shah fits in. He has been a part of the design world for nearly 15 years, working with interiors. And now he is branching out into fashion, under the label H.Couture. His clothes will be devoid of embellishments and frills, but with serious attention to detail.

Every piece is personally designed by Haresh and each shirt has its own unique quality whether a flab on the back or a fold in a sleeve. There are two distinct look to H.Couture — the younger look, which includes lycra mix t-shirts that can be worn with jeans or even under a suit, and the more classic look that includes very basic and wearable shirts and trousers mainly in natural fabrics like linens. They are not only comfortable, but as well-finished as any garment you will find in Milan.

"India has proved excellence in Interiors, but not fashion. I think we can excel in design too," says Haresh. And though his clothes are designed for men, some of his shirts and T-shirts can be worn by women as his designs are so easy to wear. There is a philosophy behind everything Haresh does. For him fashion is more than just something you wear, it is a part of the person who wears it. "I do not believe in embellishments, you don’t need them. If a person is beautiful, he or she does not need extra embellishments," he says.

H. Couture will unveil its first collection at a fashion show to be held at Dhanraj Mahal Apollo Bunder next Thursday and his designs will be available from his store H.Couture, also at Dhanraj Mahal, the following week. And eventually H.Couture will stock everything a man needs from shoes to a simple T-shirt — making H. Couture the one stop shop for any stylish man.
