MUMBAI, MAY 18: Sahar Silver Stars struggled to beat 10-strong Jet Airways. They eventually triumphed 5-3 via the tie-breaker in the MDFA-conducted Guru Nanak football tournament at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today.Silver Stars, a young team, showed good enthusiasm in the early part of the game. But they ran out of steam as the match progressed and were fortunate enough to emerge victors after full-time ended 1-1.They wrested the lead two minutes from half-time. The goal came after the shrewd Vinod Swamy, who saw Jet Airways goalkeeper out of position, neatly crossed from the right into the goalmouth and Jayesh Swamy of Silver Stars tapped into goal.In the second-half, there was little to distinguish between the two teams. Both fared well and were guilty of muffing chances. Jet Airways had a slight edge and they turned their superiority into a goal in the 15th minute.Jet Airways equalised after their 11th player Rahul Linga took up the field. Linga himself netted the much-sought-after goal. His powerful shot found its mark and beat Silver Stars' goalkeeper Prashant Dikle hands down.In the tie-breaker, SSS Vinod Swamy, Clifton Rodrigues, Abbas Sayyed and Suraj D'Souza scored for the winners and Michael Gomes and Rahul Linga netted for the losers.
