Irked by traffic violations, a Bengaluru techie recently turned his helmet into a ‘traffic policeman’ by using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Pankaj Tanwar, the techie, took to X to share his innovation, leaving the Internet stunned. Not only did the AI helmet take shots of the offences, but it also reported them to the authorities. “I was tired of stupid people on road so i hacked my helmet into a traffic police device. while i ride, ai agent runs in near real time, flags violations, and proof with location & no plate goes straight to police. blr people – so now ride safe… or regret it,” he wrote.
The AI device flagged a man riding a scooter without a helmet. Another snap showed a car involved in stunt driving.

The video has since gone viral, garnering over two million views and a wave of reactions. “That’s a fantastic idea! Maybe the dashcams can be hooked to a cloud service, and if a state gives 10% of challan incentive given to the person whose dashcam reported incident, good reason for people to sign up,” a social media user wrote.
“You would have done such a great job with the gestapo. But I also hate stupid people on the road. Got me mixed feelings,” another user commented.
“I’ve always wanted to do something like this. Kudos. I hope this becomes a movement. We’ll solve Bangalore traffic through user tech,” a third user reacted.
Following the post, the Bengaluru city police reached out to Tanwar, hailing him for his innovation. “We have come across your recent post regarding the helmet-based traffic violation detection concept and found the idea innovative and interesting from a road safety perspective,” the message from the police read.
Sharing a screenshot of a message from the authorities, Tanwar wrote, “OMG. office of the commissioner of police, blr reached out.”
