Changing colours

Chandrachur Singh has always come across as a serious actor and his dreamy eyes give the impression that he is a sensitive person. But a recent interview of his in a film magazine has shattered that myth. The world knows by now that he has broken up with his girlfriend because of the publicity it got. Of course we aren’t implying that he is exploiting the issue to be in the news it’s the way he has spoken about his ex-girlfriend that we don’t like. He has actually volunteered information about the girl’s virginal status. Why should he want to tell readers that both he and his girlfriend were not virgins when they met? When he has decided to part ways with his girlfriend the least he could have done was to keep shut. Instead, he has run her down and even bared the physical aspect of their relationship. It’s a shame really that Chandrachur could forget his middle-class values so soon.

Never together

Then there is the sati savitri Suman Ranganathan. She talks about her lover Rahul Roy with utmost reverence, but every time you see her at a disco she is with some other guy. The last few times we have spotted her at J49, she has been partying with Javed Akhtar’s son Farhan. Of course, there’s no point asking the girl if there is anything on, after all she is so faithful to Rahul. But why is Rahul taking this? All those alibis about Rahul hating discos aren’t convincing enough. For Rahul, once upon a time, was often spotted at discotheques. Ask model Rachel Reubens.

In love, again

When Manisha Koirala falls in love she’s a woman obsessed. And we are not talking about Nana and her this time. That one is finally over. For a while there have been rumours about her new man. Some D J Husain. But apparently, he has been around for a while, only now it’s all in the open. Even a year ago, he had gone to Jaisalmer where she was shooting. Currently, the two are together in America, where Manisha is touring along with Amitabh and Anil Kapoor for stage shows. Lucky guy, this D J — he gets to travel all over the world in the company of a beautiful girl.

Second chance

The days of flamboyant mahurats are over. The industrywallas are not feeling that rich anymore. For a while now mahurats have been very low-key. So Rishi Kapoor, who is turning director with Aa Ab Laut Chalien also had a quiet mahurat. He just had a havan at home and then a song recording. Akshaye Khanna, the hero, was not in town so father Vinod Khanna turned up instead. But the unexpected guest was none other than Rajesh Khanna who makes a comeback with this film.

Apparently, the star is already fetching a good price for himself. While he has signed the RK film for a lower rate, the market buzz is that he is asking for about Rs 50 lakh from other film-makers. The action hero may not think that is a big enough amount but Kakaji must have never commanded such a sum even in his heyday. But then, times have changed and let’s hope Khanna gets what he thinks he deserves.
