Begumpur School win
Government Boys Senior Secondary School Begampur overwhelmed Ryan International School 42-18 in the fourth Fr. C Rodrigues memorial basketball tournament at Fr. Agnel School courts. Deepak 18 and Surinder 10 were the main scorers for the winners while Rekhansh Bimra 8 was the top scorer for Ryan International. In the other matches, Don Bosco School prevailed over British School 41-39. In the first half, Don Bosco was leading 26-15.

In the second half, Don Bosco was losing by one point in the last 40 seconds. Then Sanchit took the basket and Don Bosco emerged the winner. In another match, Mount St Mary8217;s School beat Modern School Vasant Vihar 30-15. Pawan was the top scorer for the winning side while Karan scored for Modern School. New Green Field School Alaknanda outwitted GD Goenka 29-12. Gulcharan and Nikhil were the top scorers for the winners and losers, respectively.

In the fifth match, Apeejay School Saket trounced DAV Dayanand Vihar 22-16 while in the last match of the day, Blue Bells beat St George 37-24. Sahil 12 was the top scorer for Blue Bells while Tapan 15 was the main contributor for St George.

Title for Ramjas
Ramjas School No. 4 won the fifth Ramjas Memorial inter-school basketball tournament beating Modern School Barakhamba Road 61-38. Anil Jain 21 and Yogesh 12 were the principal contributors for Ramjas while Kunal 14 and Siddartha 13 scored for Modern School. At half time the lead was 18-14. In the second half, Ramjas showed better co-ordination and technique and scored more frequently. Yogesh of Ramjas School No. 4 was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

Shaheed Smriti meet
The North Delhi Cricketers Association will organise the first Shaheed Smriti under-19 tournament from September 5, in memory of Indian soldiers who laid their lives at Kargil. The tournament will be played on the league-cum-knock-out basis. Narrow win for CSM
All-round display by Haider 30 and 2 for 24 helped CSM Club beat Friends Club by six runs in the Guru Shyam Charan Dass tournament at Ram Lila ground, JL Nehru Marg. Raju8217;s 64 went in vain for the losers.

Festival for women
Directorate of Education Sports Branch, will organise Delhi State Sports Festival for Women on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand from August 29 to 31 at Chhattarsal Stadium. The meet will be held in athletics, handball, volleyball, kabaddi, basketball, gymnastics, hockey, kho-kho, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis and swimming. Women of any age/depatment/institution/open can participate in this tourney. State scholarships will be given to first position holders. Further information can be had from Satpal, Dy.
