Juergen Klinsmann maintained his amazing World Cup first round scoring record on Monday with an expertly-taken goal in Germany8217;s 2-0 victory over the United States. Klinsmann, who scored four times in Germany8217;s three opening round games in the US four years ago and twice in 1990 group matches, was fast off the mark again at the Parc des Princes.

The Indian cricket team left for Sri Lanka on Tuesday morning at the conclusion of three-day preparatory camp. Skipper Azharuddin and coach Anshuman Gaekwad said the players were in good heart and were hopeful of strong performances in the triangular series which also involves New Zealand apart from the host country.

Battle at hand
Chile striker Marcelo Salas, joint leading goal scorer at the World Cup finals, is back in business and set to line up against Austria tomorrow.

Defending Wimbledon champions Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis have been handed tricky first round matches in the All-England championships starting on Monday. Sampras was paired today with Slovakia8217;s Dominik Hrbaty who took him to five sets in last year8217;s Australian Open.
