Australia in dire straits
Pakistan had Australia fighting for survival with predicted overnight rain threatening to deny Wasim Akram8217;s tourists victory in the second cricket Test today. Australia had to defy history to prevent Pakistan from levelling the three-Test match series and were banking on a resolute stand between Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist to salvage the match.

Young Yuvraj Singh scored his maiden first class century and helped Punjab in a position where they can now call the shots against Haryana in their last North Zone Ranji Trophy league match at Gurgaon today. After Haryana were dismissed for 279, Yuvraj8217;s unbeaten 131 and his 185-run opening-wicket stand with skipper Vikram Rathore 80 meant Punjab were 233 for two when stumps were drawn for the second of the four-day match.
Jadeja out
Injured batsman Ajay Jadeja has been ruled out of India8217;s upcoming Test series against Australia and the cricket board will announce the replacement tomorrow.
