Tendulkar for Single Wicket
Sachin Tendulkar is the star attraction in the Vijay Manjrekar Single Wicket Cricket Tournament for the Veedol Trophy to be held at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana here on April 26. The master blaster, who has won the tournament three years in a row before missing the event over the last two years, has confirmed his entry in the tournament which offers Rs 25,000 to the winner and rs 15,000 to the runner-up. Also taking part and vying for top honours would be Tendulkar8217;s teammates in Sharjah Ajit Agarkar and Hrishikesh Kanitkar, it was announced at a press conference here last night.
Among others who would be seen in action in the 16-player draw would be retired Test star Sandeep Patil, discarded India players Pravin Amre and Paras Mhambrey and India under-19 skipper Amit Pagnis.
Football for the deaf
The India Deaf Society, Mumbai will be hosting the National Football Championships for the deaf from April 27 to 30 at the Cooperage and Karnataka. About 300players, representing 15 states are expected to participate in the tournament.
Athletic coaching camp
The Mumbai Port Trust Sports Club is organising an athletics summer coaching camp for children of Port Trust employees in various age groups from May 2 to 31. The camp will be held daily between 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.. at MMBPT ground, Hay Bunder, Opp Modistone, Reay Road, Mumbai.
