Encyclopedia on cricket

Cybersoft Multimedia has launched the world8217;s first interactive encyclopedia on cricket. Titled Legends At The Crease8217;, the CD ROM covers highlights of over 200 matches played over the last 125 years. The product is segmented into four categories; viz the Hall Of Fame featuring 200 all time great cricketers, Interactice Museum with images and records on all matches, MCC Gallery displaying cricket memorabilia from Melbourne Cricket Club and an On Line Database giving daily updates. It also provides internet links to cricket sites around the world.

Cooper test for referees

The Bombay Football Referees Association will hold the Cooper Test/Refresher Course on Sunday, April 19 at the University Sports Pavilion, Marine Lines at 7.30 p.m.

All referees are requested to attend.

Malabar Hill cricket tourney

The Malabar Hill Kala Krida Kendra will conduct the 17th Malabar Hill Trophy cricket tournament on the occasion of Maharashtra Day on April 26 and May 1from 8 a.m. onwards at Freedom Fighter S M Joshi play ground, Dongarsi Road, Malabar Hill.

Teams interested in playing in this tournament may contact P S Lad hon general secretary/Prakash Bhalekar chairman, sports committee/Anil Kanada/Nitin Thackrey before April 25.

Dr Kanga tournament

Clubs participating in the Dr Kanga knock-out cricket tournament, which starts from April 19, are requested to collect their cricket balls from the office of the Mumbai Cricket Association between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

All India hockey from May 1

An all India hockey tournament will be conducted from May 1 to 10 by Shri Hanuman Blessing Sports Club, Gadag-Betgeri.

The winning team will be awarded a trophy and Rs 25,000 prize money while the runners-up will take home Rs 15,000.

Affiliated teams are requested to send their entries with Rs 300 on or before April 22 to The Secretary, Hanuman Blessing Sports Club, Gandhi Nagar, Settlement, Gadag-Betgeri-582102.

Summer coachingcamps

Training programme at Navi Mumbai

The Bombay YMCA Navi Mumbai branch at CBD Belapur will conduct sports and swimming coaching programmes for children and adults from April 20.Training will be imparted in basketball, table tennis, roller skating, chess, badminton and swimming.

Matunga Gymkhana coaching scheme

The summer holiday coaching scheme organised in Matunga Gymkhana for table tennis, badminton, karate and roller skating is as follows:

Table tennis: May 4-June 3: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. everyday except Sunday at Rs 1000 per month.

Badminton: April 15-June 15: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Eligibility: Children seven years and above and adults at Rs 1000 for members and Rs 1300 for non-members.

Karate: May 2-August 2: 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fees: For Members 8212; Rs 375 coaching and Rs 400 uniform; For non-members 8212; Rs 450coaching and Rs 400 uniform.

Roller skating: Batch I: April 17-May 1; Batch II: May 2-May 16; Batch III: May 17-May 31. Between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, everyday except Sunday at Rs 350 members/Rs 400 non-members. Eligibility: Children above 5 years Wear canvas shoes with socks, old jeans and a cap. Carry a napkin, a long shoe lace, a water bottle and your own skates.

Fatima SC camp inaugurated

The 15th Fatima Sports Club summer coaching cap for junior boys and girls age group 10-16 was inaugurated today.

Coaching is conducted in four disciplines 8212; athletics, basketball, football and hockey.

Camp for children of bank employees

The Bank Sports Board WR will organise a summer coaching camp in hockey for children of bank employees under theaegis of Indian Banks8217; Association IBA. The camp is scheduled to be held at St Andrew8217;s Grounds, Bandra from April 15 to May 1.

Children in the age group of seven to 15 years are invited to participate in the camp, with training commencing at 7 a.m.
