Dravid, player of the week

Rahul Dravid, for his consistent performances in the three one-day internationals against New Zealand during the weekJanuary 8-14, has been chosen as the BPL Player of the Week.

The three judges for the award Vivian Richards, Tony Greig and Sunil Gavaskar, considered the performances of the players in the three one-day internationals between India and New Zealand and the first three league matches of the World Series Cup in Australia involving Australia, England and Sri Lanka.

Only one player, Australia8217;s opening bat and wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist could come close to be considered for the award. Gilchrist scored an attacking 131 in his side8217;s win over Sri Lanka. However, Dravid8217;s scores of 123 n.o., 38 and 68 against New Zealand tilted the scales in his favour. Dravid will be presented an equivalent of US 500.
