Pondicherry, Oct 13: Top seed S Raman, Arjun Dutta, Subhajit Saha (Sr) and Shivaji Dutta today entered the semifinals in the men’s singles event of the All-India Ranking table tennis tournament (South Zone) being held here.

In the women’s section, top-seed Poulomi Ghatak, Anindita Charborty, Mouma Das and N R Indu have made the grade.

In the quarter-finals, Raman (PSCB) scored a fluent 21-10, 22-20, 21-15 win over Ranbir Das (WB). Third-seed Saha was stretched to five sets by Ganesh Kundu (Rlys) before the former scored a 16-21, 21-19, 19-21, 21-19, 26-24 win.

Unseeded Shivaji Dutta (Rly/WB), who showed the exit to fifth-seed Deepak Thukral (Punjab) in the pre-quarters, upset seventh-seed B S Thakur 21-19, 18-21, 10-21, 21-17, 21-6. Fourth-seed Dutta (PSCB) defeated Tamil Nadu’s R Rajesh 21-15, 21-18, 18-21, 21-15.

Ghatak (WB) outplayed T Pradeepa (TN) 21-19, 21-18, 21-16 while N R Indu (PSCB) defeated Montu Ghosh (Oil India) 21-15, 24-22, 21-10.
