
MUMBAI, April 14: Dutta Shinde of Maharashtra State Police scored the first hat-trick of the Bandra Gymkhana Open rink hockey tournament being conducted on the Gymkhana floodlit courts late on Monday night.
Shine accounted for six goals while team-mates Milind Lonare and Rohitdas Musale got a goal each as Maharashtra State Police beat local challengers Rajput XI 8-5. The scorers for Rajput XI were Sabby Naronha 3, Sanjay Fernandes 1 and Carl Lopes.
Reserve Bank of India edged out Father Agnel Vashi 10-9 via tie-breaker after both teams were locked 6-6 at the end of regulation time.
Trevor Fernandes 4, Aleem Shaikh 1 and Gavin Coelho scored for Reserve Bank of India while B Dhanraj 3, Neil Pimenta 2 and S Mahesh scored for Father Agnel.
In the tie-breaker, Reserve Bank scored through Aleem Shaikh, Trevor Fernandes, Dawson Pereira and Brij Lal whereas S Mahesh, M Stanny and Neil Pimenta were the only ones to beat goal-keeper Francis Cabral under the RBI bar.
In a very fast paced match,Companeroes Sports Club defeated Greater Mumbai Police 5-2 after leading 3-1 at half-time. Companeroes scored through Cosmas Vaz 4 and Dudley Drego 1 while Greater Mumbai Police scored through Mahendra Bhosale and Tushar Kamble.
