Visit Clinique d’Rejuvenation in New Delhi and you might bump into the ‘fit’ 50-plus actor-politician Vinod Khanna, hotelier Lalit Suri, buisnessmen Omesh Saraf, hotelier Priya Paul, a smattering of women politicians and even get a chance to chat up the haute hairstylist Javed Habib. There are more names on 33-year-old Dr Shikha Sharma’s client list (her clinic caters to 500 clients every month), but not all can be revealed. With her magic wand, this much talked about dietician is known to turn middle-aged aunties into hot bods. A medical graduate, Sharma didn’t want to get bogged down by her house-job. ‘‘It was all about death and misery. So I thought of doing something that wasn’t morose but kept me in touch with people,’’ she says. A chance encounter with nutrition soon had her switching tracks. Credited with redefining the concept of weight management, Sharma has diet-crazy Delhiites flocking to her, leaving behind the stalwarts like Dr Karun Makhija, Personal Point and even Vandana Luthra’s Curls & Curves. That’s because the lady doesn’t starve you to shed those extra kilos — food, after all, is her magic mantra. Her key to success: Never resort to frills. So, no packaged food and no weight-management gadgets. ‘‘She has changed my life,’’ exclaims a modern-day Cinderalla waiting for her turn to meet her ‘fairy godmother’. The lady in her late twenties, crazy about fashion, now fits perfectly in her sheer dresses. ‘‘A little sensible eating is the key. We believe in innovation, based on our experiences; devising concepts that are more practical,’’ Sharma tells you. Her clients agree. Hotelier Shasanth Bagat was on the nutritionist’s diet for over an year. ‘‘Her diet charts are tailormade. If one is fond of something, it can be had in moderation,’’ he says. And while it’s usually a low-carbohydrate diet, one can have some mouth-watering dessert after a paneer meal. No wonder, she has people queuing up, even if they are not overweight. ‘‘Whenever I have a shoot or a media conference and feel I need to lose a kilo or two, she helps me do just that,’’ says Habib. Sharma gives credit for her fan-following to her team’s (ayurveda and yoga experts) ‘‘collective intelligence’’. ‘‘Also, you have to be in love with what you do,’’ she concludes.
