February 18: Onion prices fell sharply by Rs. 1000 per quintal following an inflow of a new crop from February 15. quot;With the present arrival of around 130 trucks of onion the wholesale market as against around 50 to 60 trucks during last month, prices of onion have fallen to between Rs. 800 and Rs. 1000 per quintal from Rs. 1800-2000 a month back,quot; Rajiv Maniar, secretary, Kanda and Batata Adat Vyapari Sangh said today.
The fresh arrivals are from Nasik, Ahmednagar and Pune districts of Maharashtra.
