MUMBAI, Aug 17: Shane Mendonca scored a hat-trick for St Mary’s (Kalina) in their 4-0 win over Utpal Sanghvi (Juhu) in an under-12 (III-E) inter-school football match at Holy Family ground, Andheri today.

Gandhi cliams title: Paresh Gandhi of Ghatkopar emerged champion of the YMCC Open chess tournament today. He scored six points out of a possible seven.

Dinesh Barodiya was second also with six points, while PB Bhilare was third with the same number of points. The positions were decided on the basis of progressive scores. Vikramaditya Kamble and Giridhar Adhikari were best sub-juniors. Seeds share lead: Arun Pandit (Elo 2250), Sharad Gokul (2095) and Dinesh Bhandarkar (2045) continued to share the lead after three rounds of Gokuldham Chess Club chess tournament. Vijay N Bhat and BE Buchia shared the top spot with three points each.

In the under-16 category, Kedar Prabhavalkar, Ninad Konakanchi and Ameya Karandikar led with three points each. Swanand Phadke Vinay Kumar and Shamank Joshi were the joint leaders in the under-12 category. They had three points each.
