
Six persons were killed and four injured when a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary milk tanker on the Moga-Ferozepur national highway, on Sunday, police said. Four children and two women were killed in the mishap. All the four injured were taken to Moga Civil Hospital.
In Dera Bassi, one person was killed, while six others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps during the past 24 hours, the police said.
Bhag Singh, a resident of Dayalpura village, died while his friends Satwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Gurpreet Singh sustained injuries when a Maruti car, in which they were travelling, had a head-on collision with a tractor-trolley on Banur road late on Sunday night.
All the four occupants of the car were rushed to GMCH-32 in Chandigarh, where Bhag Singh succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning. The other three are critical, the police said.
The tractor-trolley driver, who fled from the spot, has been identified as Harkesh Singh, a resident of Kurala village. The local police have booked him on the charges of rash driving and causing death and injuries due to negligence.
In another accident, three members of a family, Devinder Singh, his wife and their 16-year-old son sustained injuries when a Santro car, in which they were traveling to Nahan, collided with a Verna car near Bhushan factory in Dera Bassi on Monday evening. The Santro car was badly damaged while the occupants escaped with minor injuries. The owner of the Verna car, Parveen Kumar and his driver escape unhurt, the police said.
