After removing Sahab Singh as PIO, the Government is likely to serve show cause notices to eight other Indian Information Services (IIS) officers who participated in a sit-in outside Information and Broadcasting Secretary Pawan Chopra’s office last week.
The notices would be issued under the civil services code and may require these officers to explain their conduct on that day, official sources said here today.
Principal Information Officer Singh, who had joined the sit-in, has been removed from the post and placed on compulsory wait by the government. ‘‘We have recommended to I&B Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad that strict action be taken against these iis officers but it is for the minister to ultimately take a decision,’’ they said.
Asked whether the Government has dismissed all demands made by the agitating iis officers, sources said the demands are being considered but no action is expected till after the Lok Sabha elections.
