After moving in an extremely narrow range in the special trading session on Saturday, the benchmark indices of both the BSE and the NSE ended flat with stock-specific action in some recently-listed stocks. After moving in a range of less than 30 points, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 1.19 points lower at 5,861.63 and closed the week with the gain of 23.18 points. S038;P CNX Nifty, the broader 50-share index of NSE shed 0.85 point to end at 1,868.10.

Both the BSE and the NSE remained open for trading for three hours between 11 am to 2 pm, as the NSE conducted a live trading session to test and upgrade its back-up site at Chennai. Dealers said the mood on the market was cautiously optimistic. While frontline stocks moved in a narrow range, stock-specific action was seen in recently-listed stocks. Volumes on the bourses were low on account of low investor participation. Not many institutional investors, including FIIs were active in the market, they said.
