NAGPUR, June 4: The district unit of the Congress Committee here has lodged a complaint with the returning officer of Ramtek saying the saffron government violated the model code of conduct recently by effecting transfers in the Irrigation department.

While making a formal complaint with the returning officer, district Congress Committee president Sudhakarrao Deshmukh, has alleged that several Irrigation personnel were transferred in the region during the period. As per the model code of conduct there is a general ban on transfer of Government employees. The recent transfer orders were issued on May 16 last, during the period of model code of conduct, he pointed out.

Deshmukh alleged that these transfers were made at the behest of Nagpur Guardian Minister Nitin Gadkari. The persons who were posted in place of transferred employees were sympathetic to the ruling alliance, he further alleged.

He said V N Wasade, chief engineer of irrigation department, Nagpur circle, issued transfer orders for more than400 employees from the area and instead posted personnel considered sympathetic to a particular organisation which was sympathetic to the Joshi Government. The transfers were made intentionally, with an ulterior motive to benefit Sena candidate Ashish Jaiswal.

8220;This is a gross violation of election procedure and may give undue advantage to the ruling party nominee8221;, he said and urged immediate action against Gadkari.

Deshmukh also demanded that the transferred employees be re-posted in their previous respective positions.

Copies of the complaint were also sent to Chief Election Commissioner and and State Election Commissioner.
