CHANDIGARH, Nov 25: A seminar to study the current status of technical education was held at the Technical Teachers8217; Training Institute at Sector 26 here today.

Dr L.N. Mittal and S.K. Gupta, who have conducted a study in the field, invited suggestions to improve the quality and standards of technical education and to revamp the system.

According to the study by Dr Mittal and Gupta, quot;There has been considerable expansion at degree and diploma level during the last decade, which, from the social point of view may be desirable but by and large has resulted in mismatch between supply and demand resulting in huge unemployment of technical manpower.quot;

Viewpoints of experienced professionals, administrators, academicians and faculty on various aspects of technical education were also studied by the authors.

The findings of the study were that the system will require proper planning and networking with world of work for sharing physical, human and other resources for mutual benefit and technical manpower development.
