
Even as the party recovers from criticism for organising a 8216;8216;cabaret8217;8217; at Nagamangala, Mysore district Congress chief Subbaiah and others were accused by journalists of attempting to bribe them.
Subbaiah had convened a press conference on Monday to announce that they had enrolled 4.25 lakh members in the district. Subbaiah also announced KPCC chief B. Janardhana Poojary8217;s proposed Mysore tour and gave away gift boxes to the scribes. The Congress leaders then gave white envelopes to reporters present at the conference. On opening them, the scribes found Rs 500 in each envelope instead of a press release.
Condemning Subbaiah for attempting to bribe them, the journalists criticised him for offering money for political gain. Though Subbaiah pleaded innocence, the scribes returned the gift boxes and the money.
