Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal threw up his hands in the Rajya Sabha today after being repeatedly criticised for the inaccurate predictions by the meteorological department. Sibal said the supercomputer used for weather predictions in India had a capacity of three terafloat only, which was no match for the 2,500-terafloat computer used by the European nations.

How can we expect the 8216;8216;scientists to work wonders8217;8217; with such technological handicaps, the minister asked.
