World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab has advocated the formation of a P-21 for world prosperity and security. This formation will substitute the G-8 as it reflected the industrialised world only.

With ‘P’ standing for partnership to overcome the narrow contours of ‘G’ in terms of a group with a larger membership comprising of 10 most powerful countries, 10 of the most populous countries from the South and the UN Secretary-General, Prof Schwab said while addressing an interactive session on ‘Partnership for Prosperity and Security’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Friday.

Schwab dismissed G-8 as the guardians of the present world vision in as much as it reflected an old vision of the industrialised world only. He paid compliments to the Indian race, which in his view combined most distinctly the attributes of social consciousness with the imperatives of economic success and social responsibility. India would be part of P-21. The professor also emphasised on two primary components to carry forward the agenda for global development while outlining the world vision for development. He complimented the dramatic changes, which India had undergone over the past 20 years and noted that it was particularly rewarding that the WEF-CII partnership had positively impacted the development of India.

Schwab felt that a public-private partnership and permanent accountability of leadership were the need of the hour.
