Till about a while back they invited curious glances. But now sitting pretty on the T-shirts, handbags, in the rooms and at times our ears and fingers are skeleton and demon faces. Today, on Halloween8217;s Day we check out exactly how popular are dark and mysterious symbols. Supporting skeleton danglers about two inches in size, we spot Mahima Sharma, an IELTS teacher, walk down Sector 17. 8220;I bought them about two months back,8221; she tells us that since then she has not taken them off. Raman of Jewels, Sector 11, says that goblins among others have outdone cartoon characters this year. The plastic skull bracelet Rs 25 and the metallic rings starting at Rs 50 are very popular, mentions Raman. 8220;Popular among college students throughout the year, they have emerged as a great gifting item too,8221; he adds.

Elsewhere, Palak Sharma, a B.Com final-year student of GCG-11, is happy with her latest buy from Levis 8212; a white tee with ghost figures. If you are looking for something similar you can grab them at Ebony, Sector 9, and Emerge, Sector 10. As for Khushdeep Kaur, a third-year student of Government College of Arts, she is in love with her shrieking zombie. 8220;Zombie has been my companion for a while now and is my shield. It scares off anybody I do not want to meet,8221; Kaur agrees that her mom was initially apprehensive about the toy, but over the months has gotten used to it. 8220;We arrange slumber parties around it,8221; chips in friend Kiran Tomar stating that they usually get out their collection of horror reads and flicks on the night. With some opposing the highlighting of the dark side of life, there are others who enjoy it as the mysterious new beginning. But then, there is one thing for sure, 8220;Witches, mummies and cryptic dummies have many takers,8221; states Diwakar Sahoonja of Dewsons, who because of the increasing demand, is all set to open a store dedicated to the scary. 8220;While a shop in a mall has been booked and a company has been finalized in Australia to source the products, what is left is to name the store,8221; he says, showing off the hot selling caps and wallets emphasizing the Halloween feel.
