BANGALORE, April 23: Top seed Vikrant Sane of Maharashtra clinched the boys under-14 title in the Sadashivanagar Club all India AITA ranking tennis tournament with a straight sets win over Rishi Behl in the final today.

The girls title in the same age group went to second seed Lata Asudani, also of Maharashtra, who finished a facile winner over Delhi8217;s Sanaa Bhambri.

In the boys match, unseeded Behl who had made a surprise entry into the final, started off on a stirring note when he broke Sane in the very first game of the match.

But the top seed broke back immediately to make it 1-1. Games went with serve till the 11th service game when Sane was once again broken. But Behl, serving for the set at 6-5, could not carry it off and dropped serve to push the set into tie-breaker.

Both players seemed pretty evenly matched in the tie-breaker and went neck and neck before Sane double faulted in the 14th point to make it 7-7. Just when it seemed he would choke, he took the next two points to clinch theextended first set.

The loss of that keenly fought set seemed to have broken Behl who went down without a fight in the second set. Sane won the hour long final 7-6 9-7, 6-0.
