Steel Authority of India (Sail) has significantly cut its losses to Rs 456 crore after tax during the first six months of the current fiscal as against Rs 704 crore during the same period of 2001. Sail also posted a cash profit of Rs 90 crore on a turnover of Rs 8,189 crore during April-September 2002.

HM net profit up

Kolkata: C.K. Birla flagship Hindustan Motors Ltd has reported a 44.4 per cent spurt in its second quarter net profit this fiscal at Rs 3.87 crore compared to Rs 2.68 crore net in Q2 of last fiscal.

Philips India net up

Mumbai: Philips India Ltd’s net profit has soared by 56.32 per cent to Rs 13.6 crore for the third quarter ended September 30 as compared to Rs 8.7 crore in the same period of last year.

GE Shipping net up

Mumbai: GREAT Eastern Shipping Company Ltd has reported a 45.23 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 56.73 crore in the second quarter ended September 30 as compared to Rs 39.06 crore in the same period previous year.

Merck Ltd net down

Mumbai: Merck Ltd has reported a 25.29 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 10.84 crore for the third quarter ended September 30 as compared to Rs 14.51 crore in the same period of the previous year.

Digital Global down

Bangalore: Digital Globalsoft Ltd has reported a negative growth of 4.1 per cent in net profit at Rs 21.37 crore for Q2 of 2002-03, over the corresponding period of previous year (Rs 22.29 crore).

IPCL net up 87.5%

Mumbai: Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd’s (IPCL) net profit has soared by 87.5 per cent at Rs 45 crore for the second quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 24 crore in the same period of the previous year.

Bharti gets into red

New Delhi: Telecom major Bharti Televentures has posted a hefty loss of Rs 129 crore during July-September this year compared to a profit of Rs 12 crore in the same period last year, despite a marketshare of 58 per cent in mobile telephony. The company’s total revenues during the second quarter were up 89 per cent at Rs 657.6 crore from Rs 348.6 crore in the same period last year.

Reliance Cap net flat

Mumbai: Reliance Capital Ltd has posted a flat net profit at Rs 25.7 crore as compared to Rs 25.52 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal. Total income for the reporting quarter has decreased to Rs 101.5 crore as against Rs 138.06 crore in the Q2 of 2001, Reliance Capital informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Nilkamal net up

Mumbai: Nilkamal Plastic Ltd (NPL) has posted a 44.33 per per cent increase in net profit at Rs 2.93 crore for the second quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 2.03 crore in the same period of the previous year. The gross sales or income from operations for the reporting quarter stood at Rs 68.87 crore as compared to Rs 70.23 crore.
