Two SAD ministers and an MP today criticised the Congress for trying to “divide” Punjab on regional lines by saying that one region was getting greater share than others in development projects.

Taking a serious view of statements by Congress leaders that Malwa was getting more projects than Majha and Doaba, SAD leaders Rattan Singh Ajnala, Bikram Singh Majithia and Gulzar Singh Ranike said the accusation was baseless and politically-motivated.

The SAD leaders said the Congress leadership was getting ruffled due to sustained development drive carried out by CM Parkash Singh Badal. They blamed the previous Congress regime for grossly ignoring the interests of the state. “Except for tall claims and false promises, the Congress government failed on every front. Amarinder Singh tried to scuttle Bathinda refinery to protect the interests of a private refinery group,” the SAD leaders said.
