CHANDIGARH, NOV 15: Players from Sacred Heart School-26 dominated under-19 and under-17 section on the opening day of the Chandigarh State Inter-School tennis tournament for girls at the Lake Club courts, here today.

In the under-19 group, Neha Singh (Sacred Heart) set the ball rolling by defeating Jashanjot Sidhu of Govt Model School-19, 6-0, 6-0, in the first singles while Malika Malhotra (Sacred Heart) outplayed Khushleen 6-4, 6-3 to consolidated the margin (2-0).

Sacred Heart School girls also blanked Carmel Convent-9, 2-0 in under 17 category.

Simer of Sacred Heart scored a 6-0, 6-0 comfortable win over Harpreet to give her team 1-0 lead. In the second match, Isha made it 2-0 by beating Shaira 6-4, 6-0.

Govt Model School-10 also scored 2-0 win over Shishu Niketan School-22.Shaleen Chauhan (GMS-10) beat Kamana 6-0, 6-0 while Prabhleen Chauhan outclassed Ruhi 6-2, 6-0.

Sacred Heart School, however, had a set back in under-14 group when they lost to Govt Model High School-28 by 1-2.

Amanpreet Kaur took the lead for GMHS-28 by defeating Neha Munshi 6-3, 6-1 but in the second singles Pallavi lost to Nibha (Sacred Heart) 4-6, 5-7.In the doubles Amanpreet and Pallavi beat Nihba and Neha Munshi 6-3, 6-4.In another match Carmel Convent defeated DAV Public School-8, 2-0.

Amarpreet (Carmel) beat Misha 6-0, 6-0 while G Bains defeated Anchal 6-0, 6-0. Tomorrow the matches would commence at 10 a.m.
