Sachin Tendulkar hurt himself badly today when he twisted his ankle, trying to dodge a bouncer from S Sreesanth towards the end of the first8217;s day training at the on-going camp.
Close to 4 pm, when Tendulkar was batting during a simulation match, Sreesanth unleashed a characteristic snorter of a bouncer. The batsman, who otherwise appeared in good nick on the grassy Eden wicket, instinctively ducked away, but only to lose balance and tumble backwards. While the rest of the players looked on in horror, the struggling senior batsman lay fallen at the crease with the right foot ankle badly twisted.
Although a visibly-upset Tendulkar limped off the field and later to the hotel with his ankle heavily bandaged, the team8217;s administrative manager Surendra Bhave clarified that it wasn8217;t very serious. 8220;He8217;s hurt his ankle when he fell over and twisted the ankle. But it8217;s not too serious. No X-ray or MRI is being done tonight. Physio John Gloster is applying an ice-pack on the injury. We will know the status of the injury tomorrow, there8217;s nothing to worry as of now,8221; Bhave said after the first day8217;s practice.
