Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has dismissed overexertion claims, saying it was 8220;rubbish8221; even as Australian vice-captain Adam Gilchrist urged selectors to consider resting players to keep the team fresh for the Ashes this summer.
8220;All these complaint about too much cricket nowadays is rubbish. In our days we yearned for more matches,8221; Miandad said. 8220;Look at the other sports globally and how much football, tennis and golf is played on the international circuit. Cricket still lacks in global appeal because it is restricted to few countries,8221; he was quoted as saying by The News.
Gilchrist said: 8220;We have to get our priorities right there. It is important that selectors, administrators, players and whoever else needs to be involved sits down and nuts that out. I am not saying no one goes, or all key players don8217;t go to the Champions Trophy8230; But we have to sit down and address it, definitely,8221; he said. Their Ashes rival England are also considering allowing their key players to skip the ICC event.
