NAGPUR, June 8: The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) is in favour of an early construction of temple at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. The organisation is firm on its stance and there is no change in its policy in respect of the Ayodhya issue. The view held by the organisation that a befitting temple should be constructed at the very site in Ayodhya after demolition of the disputed structure, was reiterated by RSS sarsanghchalak Prof Rajendra Singh on Sunday. He was addressing the concluding session of annual month-long summer training camp for selected swayamsevaks, held at the sprawling Smruti Mandir premises. While coming out strongly in support of the move to construct a temple at Ayodhya, the RSS chief also hit out at those opposing the idea. They have a "perverted mentality". They do not wish to inherit the glorious past and rich cultural traditions laid down by ancient civilisation of this sacred land. These elements always think in terms of appeasement of Muslims, charged Prof Singh. He laidstress on the RSS' stand that Ayodhya is one of the most sacred places for Hindus. "Now why should anybody on this earth have any objection if Hindus decide to build a temple at a place sacred to them?" he asked.About the possible sharp reaction in Muslim community, he alleged that those with perverted mentality are trying raise a bogey of communal tension. There is no reason for Indian Muslims to get upset. There is no reason for them to oppose the construction. After all, most Indian Muslims share the common heritage with Hindus. They belong to this land. A gesture on their part will prove them to worthy sons of soil and earn goodwill of Hindus, he said. His advice to Indian Muslims was that they should better follow the path shown by Muslims in Indonesia. Indonesian Muslims take pride in recalling their past and following the age old traditions even while remaining devout Muslims. The argument of Indonesian Muslims is that you are free to chose your present course of action and choose differentways of worship. But for that, you cannot change your past and also there is no need to do it, he explained.Rajju Bhayya also hailed the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led government's decision to conduct nuclear tests and take the entire world by surprise. It was necessary to show capabilities of Indian scientists to the entire world. All previous governments lacked the guts as most leaders ruling the country all these years suffered from inferiority complex. The BJP-led government showed the courage to carry out tests, which were widely welcomed by Indians. Only those with perverted mentality raised a feeble voice of protest, he said.Temple work is on, says Singhal AHMEDABAD: Criticising the MPs who walked out of Parliament over reported construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya, VHP supremo Ashok Singhal has denied any construction work at the site and asked all to verify the facts before condemning it.However, he admitted that temple parts like pillars were being carved out at various sitesand "there is no legal process which can stop it." Singhal told reporters here on Sunday that Shree Ramjanmbhoomi Nyas had collected Rs 8 crore for constructing the temple and it was out of the interest accruing from that which was utilised in carving out of the pillars. "The temple cannot be built overnight and it takes years," he said. Replying to a question, Singhal said that under no circumstances the plan to build the temple at the holy site would be dropped. "There will be no change in our agenda," he said, adding that the pillars of the proposed temple were already being carved, though its construction work at Ayodhya was held up.
