Baby, live it up
She8217;s unlike those sleek gyrating bodies one sees on music videos. Instead, Annamika is podgy and short. So what is it that makes her such a hot number? On Friday, Annamika showed that she has a lot more going for her. The lady performed live at different pubs in the city 8211; Black Cadillac, 1000 Oaks and Totem Pole. All this was part of music company Milestones8217; promotion of her new album, Annamika.

Wearing a short top and tight tights, the lady sang and danced like there was no tomorrow. Whether it was Intezar, or Heart To Heart, Annamika moved with such gay abandon that soon her height and weight were eclipsed by her spirit, energy and, of course, the facile movements of her dance. Goes to prove that it isn8217;t just the sleek bodies that can gyrate. All you need to be a success is to have the right spirit and attitude. Viva Annamika!B there!
The dandiya show at the Residency Club on September 29 ain8217;t going to be just some ordinary show. What8217;s on the cards is big entertainment, and who8217;s going to be in the club is the Big B. Yes, the persona in person. Organised by Mega Ventures, the show has been choreographed by Rakesh Bapat and will feature the Jet-Set band, but needless to say, the spotlight won8217;t veer off Amitabh Bachchan. And while he8217;s in town, do we expect him to drive down to the sets of Major Saab8230; just for old times8217; sake?!

High Society
After seven successful years in Mumbai, The Society Collection comes to Pune. The exhibition will be inaugurated on October 1 at the Residency Club lawns by Shobha De, and will offer a whole range of products like designer ware, sculpture, Tanjore paintings, oriental Thangka, silk murals, earthenware, carpets, furniture and interior accessories.

But it is the impressive guest list that is generating a whole lot of excitement. Jackie Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Milind Soman, Arjun Ramphal and wife Meher Jesia with Anaida and Channel V VJs Ranvir, Vinay, Rishma and everybody8217;s favourite jat, Udham Singh, are slated to grace the four-day event.

So if you want a piece of the fun, then head for the event. You get to pick up wares you probably won8217;t get anywhere else in the country, and if you8217;re lucky, you just might bump into one of the above-mentioned celebrities. Either way, the exhibition promises to be worth the trip.

A Capitol flower show!
Bill Clinton may not be a Pansy but he always manages to find a place among the Flowers. At the Flower and Vegetable show, organised by the Poona Women8217;s Council on the lawns of the University of Pune, Bill puts in an appearance 8211; with Monica, of course. And it is a display of gladioli that marks the presence of the never-say-die President. While the Starr-crossed Clinton is represented by white and maroon-black flowers, Monica blossoms in a fur-covered vase. There is no Tripping this man, what!

The ABC of weekend fun
The premises of the ABC Farms, tucked in the backyards of Koregaon Park, were the hub of much activity on the morning of September 27. While Jazz Gardens held an interesting brunch fiesta along with a flea market, the Swiss Cheese Gardens hogged the limelight thanks to its attractive cheese festival.

At the Jazz Gardens, it was perfect Sunday relaxation, all rustic ambience and delicious food. Little children had a magician to make their day, while the elders could truly let their hair down amidst the verdant surroundings. A few stalls selling linen, candles, woods stands and batik pepped up the atmosphere. The ultimate topping was, of course, the lavish spread of food 8211; a range of salads, Continental food, eggs to order, pancakes, bar-be-que, and an Indian spread of rice and curries.

The good news is that this will not be a one Sunday8217; affair. Every Sunday, Homi Bathena and Anand S. promise to relieve the tangled nerves of many a Puneite. The spread promises to be lavish and the flea market pledges to expand every Sunday.

The Swiss Cheese Gardens, too, had cheese lovers not only saying cheese8217; but buying it too. Piles of cheese 8211; with varying tastes and looks 8211; were being sold like hot cakes. There was, of course, Sohrab Chinoy himself, properly apron-ed, cutting cheese to order. This man, who has brought a whole new meaning to the world of cheese, has truly given a new taste to Puneites. Now, he has gone a step further, beginning a branch of his cheese products in far-off Kathmandu. Looks like it is now time for him not only to make more cheese but say cheese8217; too!

Destination Ahuja
The Shyam Ahuja showroom in Pune is known more as a venue for displaying paintings and works of art by well-known and not-so-well-known artists, than for its exclusive furnishings. For a change, though, everyone is requested to visit the showroom from October 4 to 11 8211; not for any artistic creations but for a sale. And you can bet that most of Pune8217;s who8217;s who will make an appearance there!

Some fashion fundas
8220;Why is height so important for a model?8221; 8220;At what age should I send my daughter to a personality development class?8221; 8220;How different is the fashion industry in Paris?8221; These were just some of the questions that aspiring designers posed to model/choreographer Shyamoli Verma at a day-long seminar on Opportunities In The World Of Fashion8217; on September 26.

Fashion columnist Meher Castelino, textile designer Indira Broker, designer Tanaaz Kothari and freelance journalist Ritika Ramtri were the other panellists who spoke at the seminar organised by the Oracle Institute of Fashion Designing at the Residency Club. Actor Rahul Roy and Farida Master, editor, Society Fashion and Citadel were also supposed to be among the speakers but could not make it.

The scope of fashion designing as a career, the international fashion scene, choreographing a show8230; were some of the topics discussed. Just the stuff for those with designs on their mind.

Weaving magic
Suresh Wadkar drew Puneites like a magnet on Sunday night at the Laxmi Mata Mandir, Sahakar Nagar. Wadkar sang all the songs he has become famous for 8211; from his first hit Seene Mein Jalan to Chappa Chappa Charkha chale. The 1000-plus crowd applauded enthusiastically as the soft-voiced singer took the stage and entertained them through the night, something they will remember for long!
