Taco bell
Ever since Copa Cabana officially opened its doors, this week, it has been jam-packed every single night. Particularly this Wednesday, when the fully renovated nightspot at Chowpatty held a tasting of its new menu when all its regular clientele turned up to sample the new delicacies. Copa owner Anupam Mayekar plans to turn the place into a salsa lounge with a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian tacos. Spotted that night were Ranadip De and USIS8217; Sheldon Austin. While Rana did not seem too interested in the food, Sheldon, who is an expert cook, seemed very impressed with the food.

Jewel nite
On Friday, IBH celebrated the launch of its new coffee table book, Dance of the Peacock by Usha Balakrishnan and Meera Sushil Kumar, with a cocktail at the Dutch Consul8217;s home at Altamount Road. Replete with the history of jewellery, the book completes the chronicle with exquisite pictures of jewellery available in India. Helping the authors and publisher, Padmini Mirchandani, celebratethe launch of this book were Ramona Garware, Meera Ahuja and Shammi Kapoor. An elegant affair that befitted this equally elegant book, many of the invitees were seen walking away with a copy of this book.

Art beat
Every year Harsh Goenka holds an art camp at his CEAT bungalow in Marve. The idea is for artists to spend a week together not only to paint but also to interact with each other. This year, 16 artists including Imtiaz Dharker, V Solanksi, Paresh Maity, Suhas Roy and Subhash Awachat were invited. To celebrate the end of the sojourn, Harsh and the event organiser, Vickram Sethi who is also behind the Oberoi Art Camp and helps curate Tina Ambani8217;s Harmony exhibition, invited their friends and family to lunch on Sunday.

And while there were many well-known faces from the world of art, there were an equal number of people from the world of business at the bungalow by the sea. Among those there were Kahini Arte Merchant, Shanti Chopra the veteran fashion choreographer is opening her own1,000-sq ft gallery next month, ELLE8217;s Nirja Shah, Business India8217;s Ashok Advani, Mid-Day8217;s Ayaz Menon, columnist Rahul Singh, Arun and Neeru Nanda and Kailash Surendranth with wife Aarti and her sister Rina. Not only did everyone get a chance to enjoy the art on display; they also spent a relaxing day on the beach, listening to live music, while eating great food.

Tea time
SUNDAY was quite a day for social gatherings. Canadian vice-consul Sanjeev Chowdhury also held a tea at the Taj8217;s Sea Lounge to introduce his friends to his parents, who are visiting from Canada. Missing from the scene for a while, Sanjeev has been in Egypt and Dubai, he was obviously missed. The Sea Lounge was packed with his friends, including fellow Canadians Lisa Ray and Ruby Bhatia. Also seen were Nirmal and Meera Zaveri, Jaideep and Seema Mehrotra, the Fashion Bistro8217;s Nirmal and Chaya Momaya, Aarti and Kailash Surendranath, Czaee Shah and her sister Gauri Poohumull. Everyone seemed to appreciate the wonderful spreadthat Sanjeev had laid out a wide variety of pastries and cakes to Chinese dimsums and spring rolls to mini burgers and pita sandwiches. This high tea went on to become a dinner date!

And finally8230;
Everyone has been talking about Naomi Campbell and Goldie Hawn8217;s trip to Mumbai. This Tuesday, a select few like Lia Dubash and Jackie Shroff actually met the glam duo at a party hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej. But the actual star behind the scenes was none other than Michelle Tung. This make-up artist rushed to Parmesh8217;s house on her way to the airport to catch a flight to Delhi to help Naomi look sensational for the party. Which the supermodel did. She was the toast of the evening thanks to Michelle.
