This weekend Geoffrey’s was a revelation of sorts. No, no it was not empty. Far from it. It was packed to the gills and spotted there were Suneeta Rao and Aditi Govitrikar. Both babes have super figures there is no denying that — even though Aditi was trying to hide it in a blue and silver sari, looking demure and very Maharashtrian. The revelation was that neither of these glam babes were wearing any make-up and you could walk straight past them without recognising them. It’s sad that cosmetics make the woman. Whatever happened to looking good naturally.

The latest brand of tequila, Sauza, to be sold in India shortly, was launched amid great fanfare, on last Thursday, at the 1900’s. Firstly, everybody who went in through the door, were supposed to `Lick, Shoot, Bite.’ That is, lick the salt placed on your wrist, then shoot the tequila down with it, and quickly bite into a lemon slice. To complete the mood, the Sauza people had La Conja and Pedro Cortesprovide entertainment. Among those at the night club were Gautam Singhania, Ayesha Dharker, Ronit Roy and Dinshah Sanjana.

After the Zee Cine Awards, on Sunday, Whigfield, the European supersinger, bee-bopped an enthralled audience. The show, which was scheduled to begin at eight, started almost two hours later.

It was kicked off by two Indian bands — Caliche and Kamal Khan. They were unable to enthuse the crowds but the biggest disaster appeared in the form of Hema Sardesai. The awara bhavre girl sang with Whigfield and sounded like a banishee. Then, before leaving, she kissed the blonde singer many, many times leaving bold lipstick marks on her cheek.

Among those spotted at the ceremony were Kareena Kapoor (who knew all the words to Sexy Eyes), her sister Karisma (pronounced Charisma — she bopped to Salman Khan’s performance). Kajol too seemed involved in the show but Urmila was reserved and chatted only with designer Manish Malhotra. While the film world turned up,there was an air of being jaded — too many awards, too soon.

And finally…

There are model-star weddings — like Rhea Pillai and Sanjay Dutt — and then there aren’t. What we are trying to say is that one such couple decides to tie the knot while another similar couple finds the whole thing unravelling. Samir Soni, the star of Chinagate, and his model wife Rajlaxmi are having serious problems keeping their marriage alive. Apparently, all the trouble originates from Samir. He is so busy with his new career that he has no time for his wife. At separate times, both Samir and Rajlaxmi have told this newspaper that they cannot live without each other but now it seems that Samir prefers stardom. But there is a silver lining to all this. Rajlaxmi has lost so much weight that she is looking sensational. All the designers are now dying to work with her and she has become a regular on the ramp.

Let’s hope that the model-star wedding of Mehr Jesia and Arjun Rampal — later this month — doesn’t gothe same way.
