PUNE, MARCH 14: Roopali Sports Club, leaders in group-B, continued their smooth sailing in the PDFA I-Division League, with an easy 5-0 verdict over St. Joseph’s Youth Club (JYC) to keep their slate clean. The winners, who till date have the distinction of being one of the two teams to have not lost a game so far — the other being City Club (in Group-A), scored their goals via Bapu Raikar (10th & 15th minutes), while Santosh Joshi, Sunil Bakre and Ashwin Mancharkar added a goal each to round off their tally. With this win Roopali have logged 15 points and are virtually through to the Super League, while for JYC relegation stares straight in their face though they have five matches in hand.

Sangam win: Sangam Young Boys (SYB) edged out Falcon Sports Club, Pimpri 1-0. The all important goal was scored by Raju Nikam in the 63rd minute, off a free-kick, which was let-in by, the otherwise exceptional, Nazir Sayyed, the Falcon custodian. The `let-off’ looked to be sheer ignorance by the ‘keeper, who failed to even fit Nikam’s effort which was in reachable range and bulged the roof of the net Sangam thus took their points tally to eight points after four outings, while Falcon suffered their second loss and after five outings still have seven points.

OBA-youngsters draw: Old Boys Association (OBA), needed Brenton Antao to bail them out from certain defeat and eventually finished sharing a point and a goal each against Youngsters. With Durand Engineer (29th minute) volleying in a Sunil Lakra chip Youngsters began on a high note. However, their lead was short lived in the second-half, when Brenton’s carpet drive from 25-yards, left the Youngsters `human wall’ and ‘keeper Malcom D’Souza dazed with the accuracy. OBA now have six points from seven outings, while for Youngsters it was their second point from two ties.
