
CHANDIGARH, April 13: One person was killed and his brother injured when a group of robbers attacked them last night. While 27-year-old Satbir died on the spot, his younger brother, Ramesh, has been admitted to the hospital with multiple wounds.
According to police sources, the brothers belonged to Ram Durbar area and Satbir worked as a daily wage labourer here. Both were returning from Mauli Jagran colony last night when they were stopped by about half-a-dozen persons near a nullah between Hallomajra and the railway station, which is a thickly wooded area.
The men who were armed with knives asked the brothers to hand over their money and valuables and began attacking them with knives. Ramesh managed to run to his colony and when he returned with a few persons after about half-an-hour, he found Satbir dead.
The police added that he had sustained at least five wounds, two on his chest and two on his lower body. It was not known what whether they found any money from the deceased. Police sources said that the motive of the attack was robbery. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem in Sector 16 General Hospital.
