PUNE, Aug 22: A 55-year-old trader was seriously injured when four robbers, armed with iron rods, targeted his residence at Raviraj Housing Society near Koregaon Park early today.

The injured trader, Vishwanath Raghunath Sahay, has been admitted to a private hospital. The Bundgarden police is searching for the unidentified men who broke into Sahay8217;s house and thrashed him.

In his FIR, Sahay has stated that he was alone in his house when the unidentified men broke open the main door of his residence around 3 am.The four men beat Sahay with iron rods when he resisted them. Later, they made good their escape with cash of Rs 1,000.

Booty worth over Rs 3 lakh stolen
Booty estimated to be worth over Rs 3.82 lakh was stolen in three separate thefts in various parts of the city on Saturday.

Matadin Kejriwala, a resident of Mumbai, has lodged a first information report FIR at Cantonment police station saying that cash of Rs 3.30 lakh was stolen from his suitcase at a posh hotel in Pune Cantonment area.

Cash and ornaments, totally estimated to be worth over Rs 48,000, were found stolen from the residence of Rajendra Ramdas Nikumbh which was found burgled at Aundh.

Police said the burglars forced entry into Nikumbh8217;s residence by breaking open its lock while all the occupants had gone out. Kiran K V, a doctor who had come from Bangalore to attend a function in Pune, was relieved of Rs 4,500 in cash at a hotel in Sonwar Peth where he was staying.
