While airlines have made it clear that they expect no impact due to the slash in the Railway’s passenger fares, the road sector has voiced its opinion on similar lines with regard to the impact on the road sector of a rate cut in rail freight charges. “We do not see any immediate impact on the road sector, in fact, we expect that the end customer will benefit with better coordination between the rail-road freight corridors. Both put together can enhance the productivity and efficiency of the domestic logisitcs industry,” said D P Agarwal, vice chairman and managing director, Transport Corporation of India.
