
RAJKOT, Nov 16: The Rajkot Municipal Corporation has started health checkup of primary school children. The corporation will cover all the 370 schools in the city in two phases from November 14 to 30 and December 10 to 24.
The inauguration function of the health drive was organised in primary school number 60. In the function Rajkot MP Vallabh Kathirya, educationalist Pravin Maniyar, municipal commissioner Raj Gopal and Mayor Govind Solanki were present.
Kathirya said that health and education of children is very important and the government is trying its best to improve the condition of both in the State. He said doctors in Rajkot will provide full support to the drive.
Pravin Mainyar said that beginning of such a drive is very good. But regular follow up should be done after completion one such drive. He suggested that non-governmental organisations should adopt some schools and continue such work with the financial assistance of the corporation.
Mayor Solanki stressed on the implementation part of the programme. He said that the government is providing money for the projects but the implementation of such projects are not always up to the mark so it is required that such project should be implemented perfectly.
Commissioner Raj Gopal informed that there will not only be checking, but the students will be treated completely also.
RMC medical officer P P Rathod later said that there are 41 teams which include one doctor, one health worker and two teachers. The teams will visit some prescribed schools and check every child for problems like anemia, ENT problems, dental problems, skin and other diseases. The detection of the diseases will be followed by medication and serious cases will be taken to the K T Children8217;s Hospital. He said that 1.30 lakhs children will be covered in the city area.
