CHENNAI, APRIL 1: Spinner Harbhajan Singh held centrestage with a five-wicket haul to dismiss Tamil Nadu for 461, but this did little to lift the Punjab side, who were 127 for two in the second innings at close on the third day of their five-day Ranji Trophy quarter-final cricket match here.
The start of the day’s play was delayed by 75 minutes, but Harbhajan quickly got his act together, claiming four victims. In fact, he bowled on the trot from the Pavilion end and had figures of 18-3-53-5.
Tamil Nadu’s Thiru Kumaran was the first to go, caught at squareleg by Sarandeep Singh off Harbhajan Singh for 23 (4×4) and then the off-spinner clean bowled Mahesh for no score.

In reply, Punjab openers, Reetinder Sodhi and Vikram Rathore went strong — the latter was caught behind by Reuban Paul off Mahesh for 89 (10 fours).
At close, Rathore (37, 4×4) and Pankaj Dharmani (0) were at the crease when play was stopped due to bad light with 11 of the stipulated 90 overs yet to be bowled.
