Residents protest park misuse

Residents of Shashtri Nagar, near BCM School, protested today after a pandal was raised at a park nearby for holding Jagrata celebrations tomorrow.

Residents have strongly objected to organising public function in the park arguing it would spoil the green belt. Even as the pandal came up in the park on Monday evening, a few members of park management committee have approached the authorities urging them to stop the event. “As per the MC norms, public functions can not be held in the city parks and hence norms are being flouted openly,” they chorused. It may be mentioned that even in the past as well, residents have put up a banner of revolt whenever such violations were reported other parts of the city.
