NEW DELHI, July 7: The Delhi Government has decided to reserve seats for children with hearing disabilities in schools. Education and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan announced this at the inaugural session of a seminar on Children with Disabilities - Challenges in Early Education.Organised by non-governmental organisation Suniye, the seminar came up with concrete suggestions to improve the situation for the handicapped children. Harsh Vardhan has assured that the recommendations of the seminar will be considered and implemented by the government.Encouraging parents of children with hearing disabilities, the Minister said that every possible medical aid will be provided to their children. Apart from reservation of seats, infrastructure will be provided and teachers trained to teach these children.Doctors have also been asked to motivate parents and help in the overall development of their children. The need to change the definition of the ``disability'' was also emphasised.Further, Matri Suraksha Abhiyan and pulse polio programmes are being organised to prevent disabilities in kids.
