
Yet another blast struck Delhi on Saturday leaving a child dead and at least 23 injured. Newsline went round the hospitals where the injured were taken.

21 people were brought into the Trauma Centre through the afternoon on Saturday. Ten people sustained minor injuries and their condition is said to be stable while 10 others are critical. Dr M C Mishra, Chief at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, said, 8220;Five people have been operated upon and five others are also in critical condition.8221;
Injured
7-year-old Siddharth Chaubey had gone to Mehrauli market with his mother Kusum Chaubey 40 and aunt Gyanendri 40 after school. They were a few metres from the site of the blast. Both Kusum and Gyanendri were injured and ran from the spot, which Siddharth says was 8220;like a film scene8221;. He was dragged along with the crowd and minor abrasions. Hailing from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, Siddharth and his mother had come to Delhi meet his father D D Chaubey a few days back. His mother8217;s condition is said to be serious. Nails that flew from the bomb pierced through her thighs, doctors told the family. Gyanendri is also critical with injuries in the face and right hand, her husband Daya Shankar said.
26-year-old Surinder Singh Rawat, an engineer with Maharaja Appliances in Karol Bagh, was being operated upon as his elder brother Vir Singh Rawat stood outside. His father Shyam Singh Rawat, meanwhile, was struggling to get inside as the police had cordoned off the area around the entrance. Politicians were visiting the hospital one after the other. 8220;He has been calling incessantly and has been denied permission to enter the hospital,8221; Vir Singh said. Surender was injured in the abdomen and doctors told him that his condition is not serious. The family lives in Delhi University at the government flats. 11-year-old Sheetal Rawat, a student of class 7 at Vashisht Sarvodaya Vidyalata in Mehrauli, was returning from school with her mother Pratima Rawat when the blast took place. She was walking towards her mother, who had come to pick her up, when the bomb went off. 8220;She was carrying her bag in her hand to hand it over to me when the bomb went off,8221; Pratima said. Sheetal is presently in the Operation Theatre of Trauma Centre.
Sheetal8217;s father Bacchan Singh Rawat works in Munrika. He got a call at 2:35 and rushed to the Hospital. Sheetal has sustained injuries in the face and in the back. Her condition is said to be serious.
Pradeep Singh Sharma, 21, from Hapur in Uttar Pardesh, had come to his father8217;s house for some days and was returning home to have his lunch when the blast went off. His brother Anil got a call from the hospital around 3 pm that his brother was injured. 8220;After the blast, we were shocked to learn that Pradeep is also among the injured,8221; Anil said. He and his father Brahm Singh Sharma works as a security guard for a company. They were stuck outside the hospital for three hours before a doctor told them that Pradeep8217;s condition was stable. Pradeep sustained minor injuries and his condition is now said to stable.
Shyam Bhadur 22, who is pursuing his MBA from an institute in Mehrauli, had moved to Delhi barely three months ago. His parents were on their way from Kanpur while his cousin Vipin sat outside the hospital, hoping to hear about his condition. Shyam Bahadur stays in a rented apartment with three friends near the Flower market and was on his way home when the blast took place. All of them have been injured in the blast. 8220;We have still not been able to meet him but doctors say he is fine and will recover,8221; Vipin said. Families of other boys have also been informed.
Allaudin Khan, 23, had just left home at Sarai market in Mehrauli to go visit a few relatives when the blast took place on Saturday afternoon. A cab driver with the Royal Bank of Scotland in Gurgaon, Khan suffered extensive injuries in his abdomen as pieces of shrapnel pierced his stomach. 8220;We have operated upon him, but he is in a critical state and is being moved to the ICU,8221; said a senior doctor at the trauma centre. revealed.
