SBP revises interest rates
Patiala: The State Bank of Patiala has revised the interest rates on deposits with effect from tomorrow. The revised rate for 15 to 45 days is 5 per cent, 46 to 90 days 6 per cent, 91 days to less than a year 7 per cent, a year and up to two years 9 per cent, two years and up to three years 9.5 per cent and three years and above 10.5 per cent. Single deposits of Rs 15 lakh and above will carry a differential rate of interest up to one year at maturity 8212; for Rs 15 lakh and up to Rs 1 crore 0.50 per cent, Rs 1 crore and up to Rs 10 crore 0.75 per cent, Rs 10 crore and above will be quoted daily on offer.

Sartaj 8217;99
Patiala: Public Health and Civil Aviation Minister Raja Narinder Singh has lauded the role being played by clubs in the service of society. Delivering the presidential address of the third Leo conference 8212; Sartaj 8217;99, organised by Lions Club, Patiala Fort 321-F, he exhorted voluntary organisations to join hands to speed up the movement of blood donation. A blood donation camp was also organised by the Club on the occasion in which 50 volunteers donated blood.

Tercentenary Celebrations
Kharar: The first group of 25 Non-Resident Indians NRIs from Canada has arrived in India to participate in the Khalsa tercentenary celebrations at Anandpur Sahib. Subsequent groups will be visiting India in a few days, according to Vini Mahajan, managing director of the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation PTDC. She said all arrangements, from transportation and lodging to visits to various gurdwaras in the state, have been made by the PTDC.

Free medical check-up camp
Kharar: More than 450 patients were examined at a free medical check-up camp organised by the Chandigah Lions Club Nightingale at the Grewal Hospital, here, on Saturday. Kharar MLA Daljit Kaur inaugurated the camp while specialist doctors examined patients and distributed medicines free of cost to needy patients. Free laboratory tests, X-rays as well as ECGs were conducted at subsidised rates. Hospital in-charge Dr Surinder Kaur Grewal said a similar camp will be held at the hospital on April 9.

Husband, in-laws booked
Kharar: A case has been registered against the husband, in-laws and two brothers-in-law of a newly-married woman of Kurali township on the charges of kidnapping her, allegedly over their demand for more dowry. In a complaint before the police, Sarabjit Kaur8217;s father, Pinjore-resident Hari Singh alleged that her in-laws called him up on Thursday to inquire whether she had reached Pinjore and that she had actually been kidnapped by them. Sarabjit Kaur had married Gurdev Singh in September last year.

HPMC staff meet
Parwanoo: The meeting of the central executive committee of the HP Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation HPMC Employees8217; Union was held here on Saturday, which was attended by members of various units of the Corporation situated throughout the country. Kameshwar Gautam, general secretary of the union, said the members expressed grave concern over the non-release of payment of ESI medical claims lying pending for the past about three years despite repeated reminders.
