
October 6: The Congress-led Democratic Front government today sacked Shiv Sena legislator Vishakha Raut and appointed senior Congress leader Sharayu Thakur as chairperson of the Siddhi Vinayak Temple Trust at Prabhadevi, for three years. Raut, who represents the Dadar Assembly constituency, had been appointed as chairperson by the erstwhile Shiv Sena government in place of Wasudha Wagh, a close relative of former chief minister Manohar Joshi.
While Rajeev Chavan has been appointed as treasurer, Jagannath Hegde and Satish Pawade have been appointed as trustees.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former member of Parliament Shrikant Jichkar has been appointed as member of the state Planning Board, while Congress legislator Pradumna Mehta will be the chairperson of the Maharashtra Petrochimicals Corporation, in place of Baldev Khosa, who had turned down the offer.
Murlidhar Mane and Vijay Chowgule will be directors of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), while Sudhakar Gangane will be the chairperson of the the Maharashtra State Textile Corporation.
Ramesh Kir, Bharat Patil, Mohabbatsingh Tuli, Rajendra Dangwal, Jeevan Gore, Rajan Desai, Krishnakant Kudale and Baburao Pote will be members of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, while Vijaya Bagde, Anuradha Samant, Raisa Shaikh and Alpana Painter have been nominated to the Women’s Commission. Alka Desai, Pushpa Bonde, Ratna Mahale, Hemlata Patil and Shalu Buddhuwant will be members of the Financial Development Corporation for Women.
Veteran freedom fighter Vijayendra Kabra from Aurangabad has been appointed as chairperson of the committee for freedom fighters, while Jeetendra Goswami, Sudhir Anawale, Umakant Rathod and G G Jadhav have been appointed to the Vasantrao Naik Development Corporation for Nomadic Tribes.
