CHANDIGARH, Oct 31: The beloved of the Gopis came to town on Sunday, replete with burdens of a busy king. Not quite. And with all the sensuality of a drama unfold well. Presented by Shayog, Rang Liya Rangrej is the story of a nostalgic King Krishna in Mathura in Tretayug. He misses the spirit of his beloved Vrindavan, the gopikas, the beauty of the gardens, Radhika, Mother Yahodhra8217;s love and of course, the oh-so-sweet butter.
It is in such a condition that Krishna8217;s friend Udhav finds him. A proud and knowledgeable man, Udhav promised the gloomy King that he would visit Vrindavan for him. Udhav does and in the process falls in love with Vrindavan. On his return to Mathura, Udhav is all drunk on Krishna8217;s love-city.
In the mordern age, Krishna sends his friend to Earth again, to show the quot;right8221; path to man. But what does he experience! Certainly, not the intoxication of Vrindavan. Directed by Suparna and scripted by Sapna, Rang8230;, presented at the Open Air Theatre in Panjab University, is a comedy in dance-drama that brings out the turmoils faced by mankind and the Catch 22 situation that man and his god is caught in. The actors, whether it be Krishna Pranjan, Udhav Anshuman or the Politician Deepak, enacted their characters to the fullest, albeit in mirth, had enough originality for the message to home in.
Rang Liya Rangrej was choreographed by Raj.
