FOR years, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been nursing a desire to make a really good horror film. His Raat starring Revathy wasn8217;t as interesting as he would have liked it to be, and Kaun might have been a nail-biting thriller but it didn8217;t quite qualify as a horror. After the critical accolades he8217;s earned with Company, looks like Ramu is finally going to make his horror flick. According to the Bollywood grapevine, the filmmaker8217;s next movie will be a horror titled Bhoot. Although an official announcement is still awaited, Urmila Matondkar is rumoured to star in it. Whether she plays the title character or not, remains to be seen. Meanwhile, yet another unfulfilled dream of Ramu is to direct Shah Rukh Khan someday. The actor gave Ramu the go-ahead some years ago, and the director had been working on scripts diligently ever since. However, according to those in the know, Khan never greenlighted any of Ramu8217;s films as he was never keen to work opposite Urmila Matondkar. And he is wise enough to know that she will invariably squirm her way into any Ramu production.
Second Chance
IT is a fact that Uday Chopra didn8217;t deliver an applause-worthy performance in Mohabbatein. He was just about okay, evident in the fact that no filmmaker apart from his father signed him up for a new film.
Meanwhile, Padam Kumar had signed up the young actor for Supari, his thriller also starring Nandita Das and Rahul Dev among others. The film, long in the making, is finally ready. And not surprisingly, distributors haven8217;t been queuing up to pick up the rights. According to very recent information, Yash Raj Films has picked up distribution rights to Supari, so looks like smart-alec Padam Kumar8217;s decision to cast Uday Chopra wasn8217;t such a bad idea after all!
On one Stage
After the debacle of the Bollywood-themed Selfridges event in London, the city is getting ready for two of the biggest star shows they have seen in recent years. First Hrithik Roshan will land up with Karisma, Kareena, Arjun Rampal and Aftab Shivdasani for a major stage show, and only a few weeks later, crowds will go crazy when superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan take the stage together. Ticket prices for both shows are believed to be astronomical and heavy bets are on over which show is likely to be a bigger draw than the other.
