
Lalit Kishore Chaudhary, IIT Kanpur alumnus and Graziano CEO, was killed on Monday after being attacked by a group of expelled workers on the company premises in Greater Noida. As the protesters took law in their own hands and attacked the company premises, they also attacked all the other employees of the company who were working in the factory at the time.
According to sources, 55 employees were injured and there were around 80 employees in the factory. Twenty-four employees were later admitted to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida with skull injuries and bone fractures.
While six employees, including S Sarkar, Vice-President Operations of the company and second in command after Chaudhary, are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit, the condition of two of them is said to be critical. Sarkar was hit in the head with an iron object and has 25 stitches.
Sudhir Kumar, the guard on duty at the main entrance at the time of the incident, said: 8220;They were over 200 people who wanted to get into the company premises. I stopped them because we did not have permission to allow them inside. Then somebody hit me on the head with a rod from behind, after which some six to seven people started beating me up and threw me in a ditch outside the company gate and I fainted after that.8221; According to sources, after the workers allegedly went on a rampage in the company, Chaudhary had come down from his office, but was attacked by the mob.
Ashwani Kumar, the company driver, who came to rescue Chaudhary, was also beaten up mercilessly. He now lies in a critically injured state at Kailash Hospital. While Chaudhary lost his life, Kumar is still unconscious.
8220;They had all come well-planned with the intention to kill everyone inside the office. They just wanted to murder. I was hit with a very hard object on the back, head and legs. But I managed to escape and was brought to the hospital,8221; said Saroj Kumar 38, who works with the company8217;s Quality Assurance department.
